New Bill In California May Allow Homeowners To Reverse Foreclosure Sales Due To Servicer Errors
The California Senate approved a new foreclosure bill and sent it to the Assembly for review. The bill would provide recourse to homeowners who lost their home through foreclosure due to serious servicer errors. Also, the bill prohibits servicers from starting the foreclosure process until there is a final decision received by the homeowner regarding a loan modification.
This legislation would potentially put pressure on the servicers to reach out to homeowners for possible loan modification and for the servicers to make sure that they don’t make errors. That’s quite a challenge considering the growing number of files for the servicers to process.

U.S. Banks Increased Their Foreclosure Holdings In Q1 By 12.5%
U.S. banks increased their foreclosed property held by 12.5 percent to $41.5 billion during the first quarter of this year, according to a recent analysis by SNL Financial, a financial market research firm.
